We had so much fun last year, the Union County Museum is having their Fun in the Courtyard – Crafts, Cookies & Ice Cream Social again!

The public is invited to the Union County Museum for our Third Tuesday event, Tuesday, July 21, in Union. Admission is free! Activities take place in the Union County Museum courtyard, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Craft stations in the courtyard will let you try your hand at creating different crafts, some of which may have been made by your ancestors. Among the crafts are corn husk dolls, fabric flowers, spinning and weaving, making whirly-gigs, and more. There will even be information about the ancient art of beekeeping.
Anne Rodriguez has a very old recipe that will allow people to “roll your own” Tootsie Rolls. Museum curator Sharon Hohstadt will demonstrate quilting and help attendees make “mug rugs.” Board President Josh White will demonstrate an antique spinning wheel.
Museum volunteers will show you how to exercise your creativity. A recent grant from the Union County Commission’s TLT Fund is paying for the supplies. Museum members are providing home-baked cookies and ice cream, churned on site.
Attendees can purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win a Family Fun basket, filled with games and activities the whole family will enjoy. The raffle is part of a season-long fundraiser, in which themed baskets of items are raffled off at every museum event. Learn more and participate at this event.
